Royal Handwriting Monument and Phan Hin Archaeological Site

The Royal Handwriting Monument, also known as the Royal Handwriting Historical Site, has been registered as the national historical site in 1981. The handwriting was King Chulachomklao’s. As he was visiting Prachinburi in 1908, he engraved “Jor Por Ror. 41/127," which are the year and the number of years that he had been reigning at the time, on a laterite stone. A Mondop was built to cover the Royal Handwriting Historical Site and the royal portrait of the king was placed alongside for people to pay respect to. The Royal Handwriting Monument is also located in Si Maha Poh Handwriting Public Park, where the locals come to enjoy the nature and to relax.

Not far from the Royal Handwriting Monument is another site that King Chulachomklao had visited in 1908, Phan Hin Ancient Monument. It is a large ancient monument made solely of laterite. It is 15.50 meters wide on each side, and 3.5 meters high, with four porches. It is believed that the monument used to be a Hindu's sacred place dating between the 12th and the 14th centuries B.E.
