Prachin Buri National Museum was established in 1972 as the Archaeology Division excavated archaeological sites in Prachin Buri and neighbouring provinces and found a lot of crucial antique arts and items that are beneficial for educational and archaeological purposes. Hence, the Fine Arts Department established Prachin Buri National Museum to be a place that keeps useful information regarding Prachin Buri, the heritage city in the eastern region that has a long history. From the past up until the present, archaeological objects and art pieces in the eastern and neighbouring provinces including Prachin Buri, Sa Kaeo, Chachoengsao, Chon Buri, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trad were collected and preserved in the Museum. In the past, the eastern region had fine land and water transportation systems. Consequently, the culture in this area was as prosperous as in other areas in South East Asia, since both prehistoric and historic times. Presently, this museum is a historical – archaeological museum in the eastern. The uniqueness of this museum is the Brahma-Hindu archaeological objects that are ones of the oldest objects found in Thailand.

             Prachin Buri National Museum has been newly renovated and redesigned. There are some interesting exhibition zones as follows:

1. The Eastern ancient community room is an exhibition about important prehistoric times in the region, for example, Khok Phanom Di community and Nong No community in Chonburi, with the imitation of the grave of Khok Phanom Di goddess as a significant highlight.
2. The Development of Eastern ancient community room is displaying antiques from important artefacts in the Dvaravati period and ancient Khmer culture such as lintels and inscriptions from various castles in the region.
3. The Si Mahosot City room is an exhibition about Si Mahosot City, Dvaravati’s ancient city and the first city of the Bang Pakong River community. There are several important antiquities, such as the oldest carved stone Ganesha statue in Thailand, Phra Vishnu Chaturaphuch statue, the attitude of meditation Buddha image, including the ancient Khmer bronze.

            In addition, there is also the Bang Pakong River community culture room displaying content through interactive multimedia that visitors can experience.
