“Prachin Buri, a town of Sri Maha Bodhi, sweet bamboo shoots, renowned fruits and Dhvaravati civilization.” The slogan expresses the uniquely important elements of Prachin Buri; one of them is Sri Maha Bodhi Tree.  Sri Maha Bodhi or the Phra Sri Maha Bodhi Tree is believed that it was an offshoot from the Bodhi tree which Lord Buddha meditated and attained enlightenment. It had been brought to Thailand during the Dhvaravati period. The Bodhi is more than 2,000 years old, so it is the first and oldest Bodhi tree in Thailand. The tree is 20 meters round, 30 meters high and 25 meters in diameter. In 2017, “Sri Maha Bodhi Tree” was selected as one of the trees in the trees of Siam project, the treasures of the land under the Royal Benevolence of His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua (King Rama X, at the time he was King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun). There stands a Buddha image of Phra Buddha Metta Sri Maha Bodhi under the Bodhi Tree so that the visitors can pay respect to.

           The cloister with Buddha images in various postures and bells was built around the Bodhi tree. For the sake of fortune, visitors can pay respect to the Buddha images and ring the bells for a blessing.

           Another valuable thing in Prachin Buri is Luang Phor Dhavaravati, a 1,000-year-old Buddha statue, placed in a Vihara in front of Si Mahosot District Office. The statue was beautifully crafted with Dhavaravati style. Luang Phor Dhavaravati is one of the most respectful and sacred statues in Prachin Buri.

          Close to the Viharn of Luang Phor Dhavaravati, there locates Sa Kaeo Ancient Site, a square-shaped ancient pond in Si Mahosot ancient city. On the walls of the pond, there are lintels showing agricultural symbols and animals in the legend, including elephant, Leo, Makara, Gajalakshmi, or Purna-ghata. Therefore, it was believed that the water from this pond is sacred and was used in ancient Buddhist ceremonies.
